Business Integration Objectives

The infrastructure supporting digital information communications (mobile phones, Internet, etc.) is rapidly advancing. An environment is developing in which people can access the latest news, business information, or any other type of content at any time and in any location. Reflecting these changes, the television industry will be terminating terrestrial analog broadcasting in July 2011, migrating to a 100% digital format nationwide. The television industry is the largest distributor of video content in Japan, and with this digital conversion, it will be even easier to use traditional television content in any number of new ways. Digital content will become all the more pervasive. In particular, content distribution via the Internet will easily cross national borders, and the television industry will experience dramatic internationalization.

In addition to technological changes in the environment, the industry is also entering a time of significant change in terms of deregulation and legal reform. High-definition video is accessible now in an increasing number of ways. As viewing habits change, advertisers are faced with the challenge of finding new means of accessing viewers, no longer able to rely on traditional methods and models.
As viewer lifestyles and business models undergo further change, we must be able to functionally tie in to and utilize all of the media formats available if we are to respond to the more complex and diversified needs of advertisers.

To respond to this new business environment, and to create a new foundation for the digital era, TV TOKYO Corporation, TV TOKYO Broadband Entertainment, Inc., and BS Japan Corporation have merged to form TV TOKYO Holdings Corporation, which will be a certified broadcast holding company.
TV TOKYO Holdings is on the forefront of incorporating digital technologies into our core video and broadcasting services. Through terrestrial, BS, CS, FM radio, Internet, mobile and other communications channels, we will offer content to viewers through a system that maximizes the value developed from a single content source. In addition, this new entity will allow us to build a more robust foundation for business operations and content creation/management.
